Kama’aina Kids will be transitioning from Essential Support Childcare Programs to a Summer Care for school-aged children on Maui to address the child care needs that many families are facing during the extended stay-at-home order.
The Summer Care program is open to all families across the Valley Isle and on Oahu and is accepting online enrollment for June for children in kindergarten through 5th grade.
To enroll an infant to preschool-aged child, contact the director of the preferred site.
The two sites available on Maui are Kahului Preschool, 50 S. Papa Ave., and Piilani Preschool, 10 Manino Circle. Programs run from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Due to a state Department of Human Services program, essential and nonessential workers, who normally would not qualify due to their income, can apply for child care assistance. This can bring the cost down from $680 to $330 per child for June. Kama’aina Kids is a nonprofit organization established in 1987. It is currently one of the largest child care providers in the state, serving nearly 10,000 children and families with 1,200 employees across all divisions at 100 locations statewide from Lihue to Hilo.
