His parents are Kenneth and Quana Brown. He has three siblings. Brown attended Foyil High School followed by the University of Nebraska. He graduated in 2002 with a degree in communication studies.

CAREER
Brown began his football career at Foyil High School. He played various positions including running back, safety, and placekicker. He was also competitive in basketball and track. Brown earned SuperPrep All-America placekicker and first-team all-state honors during high school. He was also a 2x Class A state champion in the high jump. Brown chose to attend Nebraska over Oklahoma. He was redshirted as a freshman. He played with the Cornhuskers from 1999 to 2002. Brown played a total of 46 games and scored 315 points as a kicker. He’s ranked third in scoring behind Kris Brown and Eric Crouch. He was named to the All-Big 12 Conference first-team his senior year.

Brown was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the 222nd overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft. He won the Golden Toe Award in 2006 as the NFL’s best kicker. Brown played with the St. Louis Rams from 2008 to 2011. He was signed briefly with the New York Jets followed by the Cincinnati Bengals. Brown signed with the New York Giants in March 2013.
