One of Goku's most desperate battles has been captured in Dragon Ball Z fan art, where his Super Saiyan 3 form struggles against the most evil foe.

Summary

  • Fan art captures Goku's intense battle with Janemba, the villain from Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn.
  • Fusion Reborn's battles and characters still inspire fans almost 30 years later.
  • Janemba would make a great villain to return in Dragon Ball Super due to his raw intensity and savageness.

The Dragon Ball movies have introduced some of the strongest villains, and a new stunning piece of fan art has perfectly captured Goku fighting the most evil threat he's ever faced. Before Dragon Ball Super began, more than a dozen animated films introduced iconic bad guys like the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly and Frieza's stronger brother, Cooler. Still, only one DBZvillain forced Goku and Vegeta to use the Fusion Dance.

Months before the Dragon Ball manga released its final chapter, Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn came out in Japanese movie theaters. The antagonist was the culmination of evil cleansed from souls and the Fusion Reborn foe presented an extreme challenge for Goku to face alone, a battle X user and artist KAKERU has recreated beautifully.

The impressive fan art depicts a dead Super Saiyan 3 Goku narrowly dodging a swing from a gleeful Janemba's Dimension Sword. Both larger-than-life characters are barely contained in their manga-panel-like frame, which is no surprise given that their otherwordly battle remains a favorite among fans.

Dragon Ball fans have debated for years whether Gogeta or Vegito is stronger, but the manga's publisher declared the answer a long time ago.

Fusion Reborn's Battles Still Inspire Fans Almost Thirty Years Later

The fan art effectively captures Akira Toriyama's style and the character designs seen in the film, an art style that the sequel series Dragon Ball Super did not continue to use. More of KAKERU's impressive fan art can be found on their X account, proving their talents with more Dragon Ball Z art. A glance at their other works shows that their SS3 Goku vs. Janemba work is only the tip of the iceberg of an artist who deserves to work for the franchise.

Dragon Ball's Buu Arc Gets a Naruto Opening Redesign in Stunning New Animation
A well-made fan animation has combined Dragon Ball Z with one of the best Naruto anime openings in a new intro that'll make fans feel like kids again.

With Fusion Reborn taking place around the end of the Dragon Ball Z storyline, its battles and characters had to match or exceed the level of intensity fans experienced during the Buu arc. The 50-minute film shocked fans with the first appearance of Gogeta, Goku, and Vegeta's Fusion Dance result and introduced the demon Janemba. The villain's first form, that of a giant obese alien, was not what viewers would expect from a being made of concentrated evil. Thankfully, KAKERU's artwork focuses on the Super Janemba form that proved too much for both Goku and Vegeta to handle.

Janemba Would Be A Great Dragon Ball Super Villain

Dragon Ball Super significantly revitalized the franchise, and despite its differences from DBZ's anime, it's helped create an entirely new generation of fans. New fans have a lot of Dragon Ball content to experience, including the animated films and the beloved Fusion Reborn movie. Goku's Super Saiyan 3 form has become rare since Dragon Ball Super. Still, KAKERU's incredible fan art recaptures the raw intensity of the transformation and Janemba's savageness. The evil villain has yet to appear in Dragon Ball Super, but being the culmination of the universe's evil, he'd make a great foe to see return.
