The family of Krystyn Dunlap is hosting a public search for evidence related to Krystyn's disappearance almost 29 years ago.

Krystyn's was first reported missing by her mother on October 16, 1994, when she was 17-years-old. Krystyn was first reported as a runaway, however friends of hers told police that they had been in contact with Krystyn as late as December 1994.

After several years of dead ends, Boise Police moved her case to open but inactive and her status was changed from runaway to missing person in 1998.

In 2011 the BPD Violent Crime detectives looked into the case and conducted a "cold case" investigation to see if there were any overlooked leads or new new details, but after exhausting all investigative leads the case was returned to inactive.

Then in the Summer of 2021, BPD detectives met with Krystyn's mother Kim, and the determination was made that she is likely no longer a runaway or missing person, but is likely deceased. BPD suspect foul play is involved and strongly believe that someone out there knows what happened to Krystyn.

Most recently new information uncovered by BPD led cold case detectives to initiate two extensive searches near Pleasant Valley Road in 2022. Detectives and partner agencies searched in April and June of 2022 but have not yet uncovered any human remains. Photos included in this story are from those searches.

On Saturday, September 23, 2023, Krystyn's family is planning to search additional areas near Pleasant Valley Road.
