Agreement In Place To Keep Zion National Park Open Another Week
ZION NATIONAL PARK, Utah – The Beehive State’s renowned Zion National Park will remain staffed during another week of the partial federal government shutdown thanks to a funding agreement between the state, local governments and a non-profit.
“Our goal is to do right by the visitors and right by the natural resources,” said Vicki Varela, managing director of the Utah Office of Tourism.
The announcement came as funding was set to run out on Saturday, to keep essential employees on duty at Zion.

The landmark Buzz’s Wharf Restaurant, which closed last year, may be leveled after nearly 50 years at Maalaea Harbor to make way for dry dock space and increased boat traffic.
The state Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation is considering “leveling the building and increasing (boater) haul out,” an official said last month.
However, a DLNR spokeswoman said a historical assessment and building survey need to be completed before any decisions are made because the building is older than 50 years.
Texas mall shooting started as fight between groups
EL PASO, Texas (AP) — A shooting at a Texas mall that left one person dead and three others wounded began as a confrontation between two groups in the food court, police said Thursday.
The ages of those involved in the fight Wednesday at Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso ranged from late teens to early 20s, interim El Paso police Chief Peter Pacillas said.
“This is a random incident that occurred between two groups at the mall,” Pacillas said.
Danny's Drive-In Reopens Under New Ownership
On Saturday, Danny's Drive-In, Ashland, held a Grand Re-opening under new ownership.
Danny's Drive-In has been a staple in Ashland for over 50 years, being known for their burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, and their famous hot sauce.
The restaurant opened in the 1950's, and was owned by Danny Snyder, then called the Boulevard Drive-In. Fast forward to 1989, Danny retired and sold the business to his son Randy.
